Hi!
"new" L275, want to look at replacing the hydraulic oil to get a baseline. I am proficient at reading motor oil specs, but am having difficulty on hydraulic oil. need help.
Q1. What is the difference between UDT and SUDT?
Q2. What is the non-Kubota commerical equivalent spec
Q3. What are good brands of SYNTHETIC (NOT blends) hydraulic oils?

I am a big enthusiast of Synthetic Oils and have converted all vehicles long ago to them. Never saw any of the "bad effects" and have seen significant benefits. Replaced the "high grade Kubota oil with Mobile 1 T&SUV and got major cleanout of sludge in 3 hours.

Using Mobil 1 in a car engine for 5000 miles I saw it turn black far more then expected for an engine at 10,000 miles. I would worry as during the design of that model even a partial synthetic wasn't used so you might wind up with a few seeping seals. ....

Heard that even in the pre-synthetic 60's. Unless you had used really cruddy oil or did not follow change intervals, the seals should be still good. If not, the problem is not in the oil, it is that you need to replace seals.
As for "black", the Mobil 1 was cleaning up all the garbage left behind by the previous oil or poor maintenance.

My research has shown that UDT, Case premium fluid and Chevron All Weather (full synthetic) have the same viscosity rating and perform just about the same in Kubota HST's.
Super UDT is a thinner, less viscus fluid and produces more power at the wheels. It's cold weather flow characteristics match or exceed the best synthetics on the market. It is the fluid of choice for Kubota HST's.
What sort of transmission does your tractor have?

I guess I didn't address all of your questions.
The only readily available full synthetic I know of that conforms to standard testing procedures is Chevron All Weather. It is advertised to meet Super UDT specs. Very few fluids do.
Deere recently upgraded their opinion of Hygard (not the Low-vis, but the standard). They now say it meets Super specs.
Every tractor fluid container I have ever looked at says it meets regular UDT specs.
Despite the fact that other oils do meet Super specs, they are all the same viscosity as regular UDT, and therefore cause the HST's to run a little slower. At least that has been my experience with a BX and an RTV.
